As you asked for tried and tested recipes there are a couple I use and can recommend (well not personally but you know what i mean!!)
Shep’s Pie
Ingredients
½ kilo ground lamb
4 cups of potatoes
1 cup of frozen peas
1 cup chopped carrots
Cook the lamb in a frying pan with a little oil for a few minutes until brown
Place the Potatoes into a saucepan of boiling water for 20 minutes after 10 minutes add the peas and carrots
Add all the incredients to gether in a saucepan and cook for a further 10 minutes
Place in a cool place until cool
Meat and Rice Mix
Ingredients
2 cups Cooked brown rice
2/3 cup Lean meat
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1/4 cup Grated Carrots or Cabbage
The meat can be raw or cooked If you have any left over lean meat from you meals you can add it. Just add all the incredients to a bowl and mix
Apollogies for copying them directly from the recipe section of my website http://www.healthypetsarehappypets.com but it was easier and safer than writing them out

Helen asks…
Does anyone know of good recipes for homemade dog food that would meet all of a dog’s nutritional needs?
In light of the recent recall on commerical dog foods and also because of the way it is made with by-products, etc., I want to make my West Highland White Terrier’s food. The vet’s do not usually agree with this decision, but I know a lot of people have done it and their dogs are much better because of it. My dog is also a little overweight, she weighs 24 lbs. and should be not be more than 20. I’m hoping that with homemade food she may be able to lose this extra weight. Since she is a small dog and does not eat that much, I’m sure that any additional cost would not be that much. If there are any vet’s reading this post I would be interested in hearing your side of this issue, especially if you have positive imput.
